 Lansdowne is a hill station like Masurriee & Nainital, situated in District Pauri Garhwal in the state of Uttranchal(now Uttrakhand) in India . It is at app. 5800 ft. height from the sea level.
Lansdowne got it’s name after the 5th Marquis of Lansdowne (U.K.), Sir Henry Charles Keith Petty-Fitzmaurice, who was the British Viceroy of India from 1888 to 1894. Earlier it was known as KALUDANDA.

It is a small cantonment area and presently is the Headquarter of Garhwal Rifle Regimental Centre. Market is very small but you will get every item of your basic needs.
If you are true nature lover, it is an ideal place for you. You can enjoy here wide range of the world’s highest & most beautiful mountains i.e. The Himalayas. To enjoy these ranges, it would be better if you could arrange Binocular of a good quality.

It is not so crowdie as other popular hill stations are. A calm, clean and refreshing environment makes Lansdowne a favored destination to relax and unwind and it is a truly rejuvenating experience. Here forests are not so thick as in case of north east, yet you will enjoy some regular track sides.

Summer season is pleasant, Rainy is good and winter is very cold and sometime very sexy too. Snow fall is not regular, but like rule of LTC. Education is good. Number of schools are here viz Central School, Army Public School, Convent School, Girls School, Cantt Board Higher Secondary School, Govt. Inter College and even Govt. degree college, too, is here.
Credit Card payments are not accepted anywhere, but SBI ATM facility is available. |
